In the heart of Paris, during Men’s Fashion Week, Christian Louboutin unveiled his latest Sartorial line—no, not menswear; Louboutin is not charting that far off course, but he has launched pairs of shoes that perfectly complete a man’s wardrobe. With the same exacting style he once reserved for women’s accessories, his latest line, meticulously crafted, is just for the gents, and they all sport the same signature blood-red sole. His enchanting showcase took place within the opulent salons of the Hôtel de Crillon, a Rosewood Hotel, where history and modernity coalesce, providing the perfect backdrop for an exploration of craftsmanship and innovation in men’s footwear—something we’ve been shedding light on for years.

Louboutin’s immersive presentation was not merely a display of shoes—it was a celebration of artistry as different chambers within the hotel showcased how master craftsmen created each pair. Attendees were treated to live demonstrations where the intricate techniques that define the Sartorial footwear line were recreated, presenting how the collection epitomises Louboutin’s commitment to quality and elegance. Each pair of shoes was a testament to the maison’s rich heritage that has been discussed in popular culture innumerable times, be it in Breaking Bad, Sex and The City, or its latest incarnation, And Just Like That…

In the Salon des Batailles, the craftsmanship behind the Chambeliss line was expertly executed through la patine and le glaçage—techniques that yield a stunning three-dimensional burnish and a reflective finish—to elevate each shoe into a wearable work of art. However, the pièce de résistance of the presentation, and certainly the most talked-about and photographed for social media, was undoubtedly the hand-embroidered butterfly adorning the limited-edition Farfajour and Farfanuit shoes. Crafted by the venerable Parisian atelier Maison Lesage, these butterflies are composed of four delicate layers of organza, intricately embroidered with metallic threads, sequins, glass beads, and rhinestones with a level of detail designed not only to capture the eye, but also embody the spirit of artisanal savoir-faire, evoking a sense of movement and brilliance. A flamboyant accessory unlike any that we have come across in all these years, there are also other more classic versions and range of shoes available for the discerning and the distinguished: classic pairs in shades of traditional black, camel, and dark patinas, and the odd pair in blush for those who seek to paint the town red.

Among the more playful highlights was the Circus Booty Perla, an opulent reinterpretation of an archival design. Adorned with 10,000 rhinestones and pearls, this shoe playfully evokes the ruffled collar of a harlequin, merging classic inspiration with contemporary flair. Completing the ensemble, the Farfaman shoes offer a refined embodiment of the exquisite embroidery showcased in the previous salon, proving that each piece tells a story of its own. While the pair may not be for daily wear or one for the boardroom, Louboutin’s aesthetic has always had an element of fantasy over quotidian conundrums.

In the final room, the Salon Marie-Antoinette, the original Chambeliss derby was displayed alongside an array of other silhouettes, each rooted in classic menswear. The Chambeliss line takes centre stage here, embodying the essence of Louboutin’s design ethos. Characterised by a comfortable fit and adorned with a distinctive metal pin that evokes men’s jewellery, these shoes are a reinterpretation of timeless tailoring accessories. Each shoe was matched with a Chambelink pin inspired by traditional collar jewellery and shown with a corresponding shirt collar featuring the same pin design, and some adorned with the Chambelink Strass, a jewel-like addition that marries tradition and modernity. As guests marvelled at the meticulous craftsmanship, it became clear that this collection is not just about footwear—it’s a colourful narrative of heritage reimagined through a contemporary lens.

Christian Louboutin’s new Sartorial collection will be on sale in Hong Kong from 1 November 2025 at the brand’s K11 Musea boutique.
