Mylius Yachts just proved that good things really do come in small packages.

The Italian shipyard, which has built a formidable fleet of quality sailing yachts over the past two decades, just unveiled a new 60-footer that it says will set a new standard in the segment.

Christened the M60GL, the newcomer is a purebred cruiser-racer fit for both leisurely cruising and competitive racing. The design comes from the drawing board of Giovanni Ceccarelli. The renowned yacht designer has already penned a line of Mylius motor yachts, but the M60GL is the first sailing yacht he has designed for the yard.

“Ceccarelli has an outstanding pedigree in race yacht design, including two America’s Cup challengers,” Mylius Yachts CEO Valentina Gandini said in a statement. “So, it felt natural to entrust him with this project: a yacht that marks a new aesthetic direction while staying true to the Mylius DNA.”

The first hull was designed for a European owner seeking a yacht for both regattas and family holidays. The resulting 60-footer aims to strike a balance between form and function, with the goal of delivering performance, style, and liveability.

The M60GL showcases modern, muscular lines, with a full bow and a distinctive reverse sheer. Constructed in pre-preg carbon fibre with a Corecell core, the hull is engineered for both speed and stability. The advanced composite construction techniques and lightweight materials used throughout mean that the M60GL is also exceptionally light for her class.

The yacht is suited to both inshore and offshore jaunts, with preliminary testing indicating impressive velocity, balance, and control in all conditions. The rig itself reflects the yard’s racing DNA, with a 78-foot Hall Spars carbon mast, a square-top mainsail of nearly 1,300 square feet, a gennaker of roughly 3,500 square feet, Harken Racing GP winches, and hydraulic transverse jib tracks.

The M60GL delivers on the comfort front, too. A fully flush, step-free deck runs from bow to stern, creating a large alfresco entertaining area. The yacht also has a generous beam of 18 feet, meaning that it offers more space than other vessels of this size. A foldable carbon bimini can be added to the exterior deck to create shelter at sea. More shelter can be found in the cockpit, with two side benches and a demountable table available for guests or crew.

Below deck, you’ll find even more space. The interior of hull number one features three cabins, three heads, a generous central salon, and a large galley. The decor reflects the owner’s refined, sporty style, with bleached oak flooring, glossy white bulkheads, and Loro Piana upholstery. The M60GL can, of course, be customised to the owner, with everything from layout to furnishings tailored to personal taste.

The inaugural M60GL is scheduled to launch in 2026. Mylius says the model has already generated strong interest in the market, too, so we may see even more small but mighty 60-footers on the seas.
