This story is part of a series of features covering MGM x RR1HK Culinary Masters Macau 2025, hosted at MGM in Macau on 7–8 June 2025.

After a long night of celebrations that encroached into the early hours of the day, the sun rose over the vibrant cityscape of Macau, and guests were welcomed to a Sunday filled with enriching experiences and delightful flavours to wrap up MGM x RR1HK Culinary Masters Macau 2025. While the 9-Michelin-Star Culinary Masters Gala Dinner, with its multiple courses, multiple chefs, and multiple stars, may have been the highlight of the night before, the culinary journey was far from over! Day two promised an array of activities designed to immerse VIP guests and RR1 Hong Kong members in local culture, culinary arts, and well-deserved relaxation for a Sunday Kind of Love to wrap up the action-packed weekend.

While many guests opted for a lie-in or in-room dining after the remarkable dinner and afterparty, for some, Sunday began with an optional breakfast at Coast, where guests indulged in a selection of delectable dishes. From East-meets-West signature selections to rejuvenating blended juices and more, the stellar uniformed chefs of MGM COTAI were on standby to prepare the first meal of the day, setting the perfect tone. Guests savoured their morning in peace in a serene atmosphere before embarking on a day of adventure.

For the early risers who wanted to awaken their mind, body, and spirit before a full itinerary of exploration, the esteemed tai chi master Li Fai led participants in a wellness class at Vista, teaching them how to flow through poses. Known for its meditative movements and focus on balance, this ancient practice offers both physical and mental benefits. As guests drifted through the gentle motions, a sense of tranquillity permeated the air, making it an ideal way to centre oneself before diving into the culinary and cultural adventures that awaited all.

Following the tai chi session, attendees had the opportunity to participate in not one, but two engaging cooking classes. Guests opted to join a pastry-making class with chef Antonieta Manhão in the Pastry Kitchen of MGM COTAI to craft cornstarch biscuits, or delve into the intricacies of Chinese cuisine with chef Cheung Yat Fung at Vista, where he led a session on how to make Chiuchow-style deep-fried meat rolls. Each class provided hands-on experience, allowing guests to learn traditional techniques and recipes that they can replicate at home with relative ease, and the aromas of baked goods and sizzling fries filled the air, creating a sensory feast to excite and ignite the palate—a delicious way to start the day.

Lunch was held at the acclaimed and famed Five Foot Road, adorned with one Michelin star. Executive sous chef Yang Dengquan helms the restaurant, overseeing the cuisine and concept that has brought the venue awards and accolades galore. His stellar team brought authentic Sichuan cuisine to the table, exhibiting superb skills through precision-driven dishes that kindle the senses with their complex taste profiles. From stewed bird’s nest with minced chicken and egg white in bouillon and braised spotted garoupa fillet with pickled chilli to chilled noodles with chicken, cucumber, and chilli oil, the specially designed menu showcased a variety of Sichuanese dishes, inviting guests to experience the rich flavours of the famed region and its spice quotas. As they dined, guests shared stories and reflections on their activities, fostering connections through shared culinary experiences.

Post-lunch, many guests were treated to the spectacular “Macau 2049” residency show at MGM Theater directed by the acclaimed Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou, a blend of cutting-edge technology and artistic expression that has captivated global audiences.

For those keen to expand their own culinary repertoire, the afternoon also presented opportunities for additional cooking lessons, with a choice between a class at Grill 58 led by chef Kang Mingoo on how to make bibimbap with barbecued Hanwoo beef, and chef Hiroki Nakanoue at Aji, who guided participants in the art of making Japanese inaka sushi, teaching not only essential cooking skills but also the cultural significance behind each dish, deepening guests’ appreciation for diverse culinary landscapes, the quality of the carefully chosen ingredients, and the different preparation styles of each region.

As the afternoon transitioned into evening, guests indulged in a luxurious whisky tasting experience featuring Royal Salute 21 at Bar Patuá, an intimate session for enthusiasts (or recent converts) to savour the complex flavours and rich history of this exalted spirit. Similarly, the sake tasting session at Bespoke Salon at One Central Macau proved to be an indulgent experience, provided insights into the nuances of sake production and tasting techniques, making it an educational, enjoyable, and entertaining affair.

Guests who missed out on visiting the POLY MGM MUSEUM and Fantasy Box on Saturday had a final chance to see the “Maritime Silk Road” and “Brilliant Stars—The Civilization of Ancient Shu Immersive Digital Art Experience” exhibitions before the day ended.

Day two of MGM x RR1HK Culinary Masters Macau 2025 was as eventful—if not more than—the opening day as the itinerary was a harmonious blend of relaxation, education, and indulgence, ensuring that every guest left the third iteration of Culinary Masters in Macau with cherished memories, a deeper understanding of the local culture, and new friendships.
